Billy Elliot
Set in the North-East of England during the miners' strike of 1984, "Billy Elliot" is the story of a young boy who dreams of swapping his boxing gloves for ballet shoes. Against the wishes of his recently widowed father and older brother, both of whom are frontline protestors in the miners' dispute, Billy is persuaded by local ballet teacher to accept free private lessons. When Billy's father discovers he is still dancing, both father and son realise there could be a high price to pay.
