Annie Griffin is a writer/director now based in Edinburgh.  
 
Originally from Buffalo NY, Griffin worked in experimental theatre before setting up her own production company, Pirate Productions, in 1990.  The company has produced three television series, COMING SOON and THE BOOK GROUP 1 and 2 for Channel 4.  More recently she has been developing a series for the BBC, NEW TOWN, a murder mystery about architects.
 
Griffin wrote and directed FESTIVAL, a feature film set at the Edinburgh Festival, in 2005, for which she won that year's BIFA Douglas Hickox Award.  She is currently making a feature documentary about the jazz singer Annie Ross.

Annie Griffin was a BIFA jury member in 2007.
