Skillset
Skillset is the Sector Skills Council for the Audio Visual Industries (broadcast, film, video, interactive media and photo imaging). Jointly funded by industry and government, our job is to make sure that the UK audio visual industries have the right people, with the right skills, in the right place, at the right time, so that our industries remain competitive.
Skillset's work within the film industry is guided by "A Bigger Future" - a £50 million, 5 year strategic plan for delivering industry relevant skills in the UK film industry - funded by the National Lottery through the UK Film Council, contributions made to the Skills Investment Fund (SIF) from feature films, and additionally-levered sources of finance. In order to attract and retain the brightest and the best filmmakers, Skillset aims to ensure that they are able to receive the highest quality and most relevant training available - through initiatives ranging from the creation of the Screen Academy network to training bursaries, mentoring schemes and the development of training programmes, By building upon our key strengths, a highly skilled workforce, we have an opportunity to truly transform our industry into one which can really compete in the global marketplace.
