The Trophy
The British Independent Film Award trophy was originally designed in 1998 by sculptor Aaron McCartney. The design was updated in 2001 by artist Lindsay Henderson of Art for Glass.
Art for Glass is a small hot glass studio operating in very diverse fields extending from gallery pieces, customised restaurant table ware and architectural work to bespoke Awards.
The BIFA Award has been a particularly rewarding one to work on, the small workforce of designers and makers at the Studio all having a keen interest in the British film industry. The design of the Award hopefully reflects the nature of the achievement it recognises in each category winner- working with simple yet high quality materials, a result is achieved which is minimalist in nature yet both concise and elegant.
